Manawatū District Council 10 Year Plan 2021-31
What's in the 10 Year Plan?
This 10 Year Plan is mostly about getting on with business as usual so we are cracking on with core infrastructure developments.
Key Issues
Rates:
Council has worked hard to keep rates increases as low as possible. The total amount of rates required to run Council business for 2021/22 is 7.45% higher than was required for 2020/21. However, because of the population growth across the District in the last year, the total rates required will be distributed across more ratepayers. Year 1 will see an average increase of 5.75%.
For year 2 we will have an average increase of 5.70% and year 3, 4.86%. Across years 4–10 we are looking at an average rates rise of 2.9%
Earthquake Prone Buildings:
Council decided to budget $75,000 for each of the first three years of the plan to provide consenting fee discounts to owners of earthquake prone buildings in the Feilding CBD.
Community and Events Funding:
Council decided to replenish the full District Development budget by $147,000, which will provide contestable funding for community events and initiatives.

Community Input into the 10 Year Plan
From 12 April to 12 May 2021, Council invited community feedback online or through documents displayed at Council facilities. We asked for feedback on two key issues, as well as inviting the community to raise any other issues of interest. Consultation is now closed, but you can view the page to see the information Council published and a summary of the decisions Council made based on community feedback.
