Cloud Library at Manawatū District Libraries a first in New Zealand

Manawatū District Libraries has become the first library in New Zealand to offer hundreds of popular eBooks and eAudiobooks through a new digital lending platform.

cloudLibrary offers a seamless experience that allows readers to borrow eBooks from the Library, at home, or on the go from their smart device.

The new service is offered at no cost to Library patrons, all that’s needed is an active Manawatū District Libraries card.

Through cloudLibrary any library user can discover new content, borrow favourites and save future reads straight to their smart device. Once downloaded, anyone can read or listen wherever and whenever they choose.

Manawatū District Libraries also have a cloudLibrary discoveryTerminal installed which allows customers to browse titles at the library, and by scanning their library card can get the title of each eBook or eAudiobook sent straight to their smart device.

Readers can borrow up to five titles at one time and keep them for up to three weeks through the new digital app.

Library services manager Adie Johansen says cloudLibrary is a welcome addition to the Manawatū District Library.

“We aim to provide our community with access to a wider range of content, services, resources and technology than ever before and the introduction of cloudLibrary is a significant part of that," she says.

“The Manawatū District Libraries can be seen as innovators of this kind of technology to not only our community, but the rest of New Zealand.”

Manawatū District Libraries expansive collection on Cloud Library includes eBooks and eAudiobooks with popular titles for all ages from Harry Potter to Lee Child.

The app is available through the Apple, Google, and Kindle Fire App Store or by visiting Users will need to follow the prompts and search the ‘Manawatū District Libraries’ cloudLibrary site, then simply login using their library card number and PIN.
