Awahuri/Kitchener Reserve and Mt Lees Reserve

The management plan(Adobe.jpg) is an important document which identifies the issues and sets out the policies for managing these two reserves.  One of the main issues is using these reserves for recreational activities and at the same time protecting and enhancing their significant natural resources.

Awahuri/Kitchener Reserve

This is one of the few remaining original semi-swamp podocarp forests in the District and has strong historic botanical significance.

This reserve is south east of Feilding between Kawa Kawa Road and Awahuri Road. It is located on flat land at the junction of the Mangaone West and Makino Streams.

Mt Lees Reserve

Mt Lees Reserve is a former homestead and garden with exotic trees in a native forest setting and has panoramic views over the surrounding area.

Mt Lees Reserve is located at 199 Ngaio Road, only 6km from SH1, between Sanson and Bulls and within easy driving distance of Palmerston North and Feilding.
