Independent Qualified Persons (IQPs)
An IQP is a person who is accepted by the Council as being appropriately qualified to undertake the inspection and maintenance of a specified system within a buildinhg. This person should not have a financial interest in the building.
Manawatu District Council (MDC) and Palmerston North City Council (PNCC) have developed a joint IQP register.
As an IQP, you will be able to apply to either MDC or PNCC on a new combined application form () and pay one fee (see PNCC Fees and Charges schedule). You will then be registered to operate under both Councils. This will save you both time and money. For a renewal, payment should be made to PNCC.
IQP acceptance will be specific to an individual and there will be minimum requirements established for acceptance.
A new quick guide sheet Guidelines for Persons Seeking Acceptance as an Independent Qualified Person (165KB ) has been developed.
