Environmental Health


 

The principal focus of Environmental Health is to protect and promote a safe environment, through education and compliance with legislation to ensure a high standard of public health is maintained.

In Manawatu District there are some 150 premises which are licensed and inspected to ensure minimum standards of health are maintained. Premises include food premises, hairdressing salons, camping grounds and mobile businesses.

Nuisance complaints are also investigated by Council. These include litter dumping, smoky fires, abandoned vehicles, noise control, food complaints and bylaw enforcement.
