Northern Manawatu Rural Ward

  Steve Bielski 0274842822

I am fourth-generation farmer living in Rangiwahia. I have managed a farming business since I was 21. In 2006 we downsized the farm. This has allowed me to commit my time to the Manawatu District. I am 65 and married to Mary, a Feilding Practice Nurse. We have three sons. I have been Kimbolton’s liaison Councillor for the past 3 years and actively involved in community matters for over 30 years. I have a passion to be involved in its continued growth and development while at the same time ensuring the continuation of the rural voice in Council. It for this reason that I am seeking re-election in the Northern Ward. I have enjoyed the last three years as a Councillor and gained important governance experience in this role. I wish to continue for a further term and will endeavour to continue working effectively in Council and throughout the region.

After living and working in the Manawatu area over the last twenty years, with a young family and being actively involved in a number of community groups, I know I am aware of the issues facing rural Manawatu. My style of representing the community is to listen to you the ratepayer, understand issues you may have and act as an advocate on your behalf voicing these issues to council.

I currently reside in Feilding with my partner and our four children. My background is in farming as a self-employed sheep and beef farmer in the Northern Ward for 16 years. Then leading into four years of selling Rural Real Estate across the Manawatu/Rangitikei. I am now currently employed by Affco NZ as a livestock buyer covering the Manawatu/Rangitikei area. If I am elected I will make sure your concerns are heard.

I have been a hard working Councillor for the past three terms and am seeking re-election. Manawatu born and bred I am married to Wayne and along with our three daughters live rurally near Halcombe.

I have been 100% fully committed to being your elected representative and have demonstrated that I have the capability, commitment, energy and integrity required for the position. I am passionate about our district, our people and our on-going success.

Actively involved in all areas of Council both locally and regionally I have sound governance knowledge, take a common sense strategic approach to issues and always make myself readily available to the community.

I am strongly committed to strategic planning with foresight and vision; an equitable rating system; efficient spend of ratepayers money; effectively maintaining our existing infrastructure while planning in advance for growth and economic development.
