Community Funding

Manawatu District Council operates a variety of funding schemes to assist non-profit groups and organisations in the district.

The Community Development Funding Policy will allow council to prioritise and fund projects that best fulfil outcomes identified in the Long Term Council Community Plan and the District Leisure Plan. The policy guides the allocation of the Representative Grants, Rates Grants, Community Promotions Fund, Community Fund and the Partnership Fund. Click here to download (85KB pdf)

Community Promotion grants are available only for Manawatu-based non-profit organisations for events located within this district. To be eligible, the events must have the potential to attract visitors to the district and to develop into a regular or ongoing event. The organisation applying for the grant must contribute a significant portion of the total cost of the project.

Representative grants are designed to assist district residents representing the district in a national or international event.

The aim of the Community Fund is to provide financial assistance to community organisations and groups who wish to undertake projects that aim to enhance community well-being, seeking to improve outcomes for the community. The broad criteria of the Community Fund enables applicants to apply for funding for a wide range of projects throughout the year. Support from this fund is available in the form of a grant or alternatively a loan.

The Partnership Fund provides funding for those organisations that undertake programmes that primarily assist the Council to achieve Community Outcomes. Strict criteria apply.

Funding will not be made retrospectively for any of these schemes.

The council also administers two trusts inherited from the former Feilding Borough Council - Hook Bequest and Robert Dickson Education Trust.
