Rates instalment one soon due for payment

MANAWATU District ratepayers are reminded that the last day to pay the instalment one invoice for the 2010-11 rating year is Friday, September 17.

The balance due amount needs to be cleared by this date unless ratepayers have a direct debit arrangement in place or intend to pay the annual rates in full by instalment two (January 21, 2011). A 10 percent penalty will be applied on September 18 to any outstanding balances.

If anyone has not received their rates assessment or instalment one invoice, contact council on (06) 323-0000.

Manawatu District Plan Review

The District Plan is a significant legal document which affects the day-to-day lives of everybody who lives and works in the district. It is essentially the day-to-day rule book and game plan for our District.

Under the RMA, we have to review each provision of the District Plan every ten years. Much of our current District Plan has not changed since it came into force on 1 December 2002. Click here for more information, including downloads.

PNCC - MDC Boundary Options

In August 2009, Palmerston North City Council and Manawatu District Council agreed to investigate the process, costs and implications of boundary adjustment, cross-boundary servicing and amalgamation.

The Auckland-based firm of Morrison Low have now completed their assessment and the final report can be viewed below, along with links to the joint media release, an information sheet and maps:

The Ministry of Civil Defence has launched a new website as part of their 'Get Ready Get Thru' campaign, which is designed to boost public awareness and understanding of the need to prepare to face disasters by having a plan, and storing water and other things you'll need in an emergency.
