Reserve Management Plan Review
Do you enjoy any of the parks or reserves in the Manawatū District? Council has reviewed and is updating its Reserve Management Plans and we want your input.
What are Reserve Management Plans all about?
Manawatū District Council is responsible for the ongoing protection, control, management and development of parks and reserves and its administration under the Reserves Act 1977. As set out in the Reserves Act, key responsibilities are to provide for the protection, preservation, maintenance and appropriate development of the parks and reserves for the enjoyment and use by the public.
These reserve management plans update the vision and objectives for the management, development of the parks and reserves. The management plans include a development plan which will guide the Council in prioritising, planning for and funding projects that will achieve the vision for parks and reserves and continue to engage with users.
There are five Reserve Management Plans and these are:
Consultation is currently open and will close at 5:00pm on 9th May 2020. Council will then hold a hearing on 14th May 2020. Please note, a reserve date may be set aside depending on the number of submitters who wish to speak to Council.
Those who indicate they wish to speak to their submission will be allocated a speaking time via email following the close of submissions.
Council will deliberate on submissions at a date which is yet to be confirmed, after which, the plans will be adopted.
