Rangiwahia Hall was built in 1909 to service the growing village of Rangiwahia. The hall remained as it was for several decades with generations of possums setting up residence in the roof cavities!
In 1985, enthusiastic, handy locals got together and renovated both the kitchen and supper room in time for the Rangiwahia Centennial in 1986.
A few changes included a larger supper room, French doors opening out to the domain and beautiful new hard-wearing wool carpet.
Since 1986, renovations have continued with new stoves, fridge, heat pump and curtains in the supper room, main hall and recently the stage curtains.
The windows in the main hall have all been replaced, fresh paint applied and the matai floor has been beautifully renovated.
A large information sign has been placed on the wall at the entrance. This includes a brief history of Rangiwahia, the Country Road Map, places to explore, walk and accommodation around The Irongates Experience.
A motorhome site sits to the right of the Hall, while to the left are renovated public toilets, the playground from the late Rangiwahia School and tennis courts.
While Rangiwahia is a quiet Community, the locals put the Hall to great use with regular gatherings at important times of the year including ANZAC and Christmas events, meetings and other social fundraising activities.
Rangiwahia Hall is also ideal for meetings, social gatherings, dances, musical events, funerals and even rustic weddings. The hall is located at 2527 Rangiwahia Road.
The floor area of Rangiwahia Hall is 388 square metres and can accommodate a maximum capacity of 200 people. The venue consists of the main hall with stage, supper room, kitchen, female and male toilets and two dressing rooms. Disabled access is available at this location.
Some off-road, sealed parking is available out the front, as well as campervan power points!
