Alcohol Ban Areas
Many Districts in New Zealand operate “alcohol bans” for specific public places, such as town centres.
Council’s Public Places Bylaw (2MB pdf) identifies the Feilding Central Business District as an “alcohol free” area.
The bylaw also allows the ability to implement liquor bans for specific one-off events if the organisers, Council and Police believe that it is necessary.
Any proposed ban must be publicly notified and approved by Council at a public meeting.
It is important that sufficient time is given to allow Council staff to process the application.
Please contact Council staff regarding any proposed liquor bans.
