Thank you for your letter of 5 May 2022 concerning the Governments Three Water Proposal and the Communities 4 Local Democracy group.
Our Council has been instrumental in the forming and running of the Communities 4 Local Democracy group since its inception, with our Mayor being the Chair of the group.
Our Council was unanimous in its desire to want to join Communities 4 Local Democracy following extensive interaction with our community back in September last year. During a number of public meetings, 2419 submission were made to Council it was clear that at least 94% of the community opposed the Three Waters Proposal.
In terms of LGNZ, our Council is yet to debate our future with this organisation. We do not disagree with your assessment of their performance and the signing of the Heads if Agreement with the Government.
