Pre-Application Meeting
Early discussions with Council can assist you in making informed decisions about your project and can help reduce processing delays.
Pre-application meetings are recommended, especially for large or complex projects.
You can request a pre-application meeting by contacting planning@mdc.govt.nz.
What will happen at the meeting?
At the meeting, you can discuss:
- Initial concepts
- Detailed design aspects
- Specialist technical requirements
- Any other requirements.
We encourage you to provide any existing technical drawings, concept plans, or project information prior to attending the meeting, so that Council Officers can become familiar with your proposal and identify any potential issues. This will also allow us to ensure that the appropriate staff members are able to attend the meeting (ie. Planning Officers, Building Officers, Engineers etc).
Please note, a pre-application meeting will not pre-empt the outcome of the resource consent process. Once lodged, the application will still need to be assessed against the requirements of the relevant legislation.
