Manawatū Water

Manawatū Water is Manawatū District Council's in-house, standalone business unit responsible for delivering water services across the district.

Guided by the Water Services Delivery Plan, Manawatū Water reflects Council's long-term commitment to investing in safe, reliable and sustainable drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure for our communities.

The business unit was established following Central Government's requirement for councils to consider the future delivery of water services under the Local Water Done Well reforms. While Manawatū Water has its own identity, it remains part of Manawatū District Council and continues to work closely with Council to deliver essential services for our communities.

  • Drinking Water

Manawatu District Council manages and maintains the water network that supplies water to homes and businesses in most parts of the District.
  • New Service Connections

Need a new water, stormwater or wastewater connection?
  • Stormwater

Stormwater is rainwater that falls onto land and buildings, runs into gutters and downpipes, soaks into the ground or runs off hard surfaces into waterways.
  • Wastewater

Wastewater is drained from showers, sinks, washing machines, baths, toilets, and industrial premises. It’s comprised of 99.9% water and contains less than 0.1% other materials.
