Upcoming Road Closures
Below is a list of upcoming road closures that are scheduled to take place in 2024 due to planned maintenance work or events being held.
Temporary One Lane Closure of Fergusson Street
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that one lane of Fergusson Street, between Goodbehere Street and Manchester Street will be closed on Thursday 1 August 2024 from 7:00am to 05.00pm, in order to install replacement glass on the Strongroom clock tower.
Road users are requested to follow the sign posted detours whilst the closure is in operation.
Temporary Closure of Nixs Road, Apiti
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Nixs Road will be closed from its intersection with Oroua Valley Road to the road end, between 8.00am to 5.00pm, daily from Tuesday 20 August until Friday 23 August 2024, weather permitting, for the purpose of power pole maintenance.
Residents and service vehicles will have access to their properties during this closure, please see the contractors onsite for escort. Please expect delays as the road will need to be clear and safe before you can proceed through the site.
Temporary One Lane Closure of Makino Road
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that one lane of Makino Road, from North Street to approximately 20 meters past Wescombe Grove will be closed on Wednesday 10 July from 6:30am to 5pm, for the purpose of drain cleaning.
Road users are requested to follow the sign posted detours whilst the closure is in operation. The detour route for road users traveling from North Street will be down Lethbridge Street back to Makino Road.
Temporary Closure of Otara Bridge, Ohingaiti
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Otara bridge, on Otara Road, will be closed between the hours of 9.00am and 3.00pm commencing Monday 15 July 2024 until Friday 16 August 2024 to allow Riverside Construction Ltd to undertake works on the bridge.
Please use alternative routes during this time. All current restrictions continue to apply until notified otherwise.
Temporary Closure of Stewart Road
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Stewart Road will be closed from its intersection with Awahuri Feilding Road to its intersection with State Highway 3, from 7.00am to 6.00pm, from Monday 15 July for 20 working days, weather permitting, for the purpose of road works.
Residents will have access to their properties during this closure, please follow instructions from contractors onsite.
Temporary Closure of Te Awa Road
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Te Awa Road will be closed from Coulters Line to Ridge Road, between 6.00am on 8 July 2024 to 6pm 22 July 2024, for the purpose of culvert replacement. Should weather or other factors outside of the contractors control delay the works, they will be undertaken on the next suitable dates.
Residents on the northern side of 262 Te Awa Road will be able to access their properties via Ridge Road.
Residents on the southern side of 262 Te Awa Road will be able to access their property via Te Awa Road/Coulters Line.
Temporary Closure of Port Street East, Feilding
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Port Street East will be closed to through traffic from its intersection with Pharazyn Street to its intersection with Churcher Street, from 6.00am Thursday 4 July 2024 until 6.00pm Friday 5 July 2024, to allow for roading construction work to be completed. Should weather or other factors outside of the contractors control delay the works, they will be undertaken on the next suitable dates.
Residents will have access to their properties during this closure, please follow instructions from contractors onsite.
Temporary Closure of Roberts Line
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Roberts Line will be closed from its intersection with Newbury Line to the end of road (dead end), from 7am to 7pm on the 12, 15, 18, 19, 22, 23 and 25 July 2024, to allow for pole maintenance to be undertaken. Should weather or other factors outside of the contractors control delay the works, they will be undertaken on the next suitable dates.

Temporary Closure of Humber Street, Rongotea
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Humber Street will be closed from its intersection with Medway Street to its intersection with Mersey Street, from 6:30am to 5.30pm on Tuesday 2 July 2024, .to allow for the installation of services. Should weather or other factors outside of the contractors control delay the works, they will be undertaken on the next suitable dates.

Temporary Closure of Forlong Road, Colyton
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Forlong Road will be closed from seal end to the end of the road, from 7.00am to 5.30pm, Monday - Thursday, for three days between the dates of 17 June and 2 July 2024, for the purpose of road repair and carpark construction.
Residents will have access to their properties during this closure. Please follow instructions from contractors onsite.
Temporary Closure of Roots Street East, Feilding
Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Roots Street East, will be closed from its intersection with Churcher Street to the Makino Stream end of the road, starting Monday 18 March through till the end of July, in order to upgrade underground services.
The road will remain open for residents and those visiting residents. Traffic management will be in place during this time, however there may be minor delays caused by construction machinery. Please follow instructions provided by contractors.
