Upcoming Road Closures

Below is a list of upcoming road closures that are scheduled to take place in 2024 and 2025 due to planned maintenance work or events being held.

Proposed Temporary Closure of Manchester Street

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatū District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Promotions Inc to conduct the Eat Street Market, proposes to close the portion of Manchester Street between the paved quadrant and the grass quadrant of Manchester Square between 7.00am and 3.00pm, on the following dates:

Sunday 5 October 2025

Sunday 9 November 2025

Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of their objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00 pm, Friday 8 August 2025, at the office of the Manawatū District Council, Private Bag 10001, Feilding, or email public@mdc.govt.nz. Any objections received by Manawatū District Council for this proposed road closure may be passed on to the Event Organiser. This may include contact details to allow the Event Organiser to make contact to discuss and attempt to resolve any concerns with the person/s submitting an objection.

Proposed Temporary Road Closures Rural Day

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatū District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Promotions Inc to conduct Rural Day 2025, proposes to close the following roads listed hereunder to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period as stated.

Roads proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic:

Date of Closure: Friday 3 October 2025

Time of Closure: 06.30am to 04.00pm

Manchester Street – from its intersection with Bowen Street to its intersection with Fergusson Street

Perimeter Roads of Manchester Square and the section of both Manchester Street and Kimbolton Road within Manchester Square.

Goodbehere Street - from its intersection with Manchester Square to its intersection with MacArthur Street.

Kimbolton Road closed to all large trucks - from its intersection with Warwick Street to its intersection with Stafford Street. Access available to car parks only for private motor vehicles.

During the period of closure, detours will be in place for ordinary vehicular traffic that would otherwise use these roads.

Proposed Temporary Road Closures Feilding Christmas Parade

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatū District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Promotions Inc to conduct Feilding Christmas Carnival and Parade, proposes to close the following roads listed hereunder to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period as stated

Roads proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic from 6.00am to 5.00pm

Manchester Square - all internal (Kimbolton Road) and perimeter roads

Manchester Street – from Bowen Street to Fergusson Street

Fergusson Street – from Stafford Street to Manchester Street

Goodbehere Street – from Manchester Square to Fergusson Street

MacArthur Street – from Goodbehere Street to Stafford Street

Kimbolton Road closed to all large trucks - from its intersection with Warwick Street to its intersection with Stafford Street. Access available to car parks and businesses only.

Roads proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic from 12:00pm to 5:00pm

Fergusson Street – from South Street to Stafford Street

Stafford Street – from Fergusson Street to Kimbolton Road

Kimbolton Road – from Stafford Street to South Street

South Street – from Kimbolton Road to Fergusson Street

Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00 pm, 22 August 2025, at the office of the Manawatū District Council, Private Bag 10,001, Feilding, email public@mdc.govt.nz. Any objections received by Manawatū District Council for this proposed road closure may be passed on to the Event Organiser. This may include contact details to allow the Event Organiser to make contact to discuss and attempt to resolve any concerns with the person/s submitting an objection.

Temporary Closure of Kellow Road

Manawatū District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, Kellow Road will be closed from its intersection with Taikorea Road to its intersection with Milner Road, for two days between the dates of Monday 25 August and Friday 29 August 2025, due to culvert replacement works. When the closure is in place the road will be closed between 7.00am and 5.00pm. Should weather, or conditions outside of the contractors control delay the works, the closure will be undertaken on the next suitable dates.

Temporary Closure of Kairanga Bunnythorpe Road

Manawatū District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, Kairanga Bunnythorpe Road will be closed from its intersection with Gillespies Line to its intersection with Rongotea Road, between 7.00am and 5.00pm on the dates listed below, due to Power pole replacement work. Should weather or conditions outside of the contractors control delay the works, the closure will be undertaken on the next suitable date.

Proposed Temporary Closure of Stafford Street and Bowen Street

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatu District Council, for the purpose of permitting Bhartiya Samaji Lower North Island Trust to conduct the Diwali 2025 celebration, proposes to close Stafford Street and Bowen Street as listed below to ordinary vehicular traffic from 1.30pm until 11.59pm on Saturday 11 October 2025.

Road proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic:

Stafford Street – from 54 Stafford Street to its intersection with Hobson Street

Bowen Street – from its intersection with Stafford Street to 44 Bowen Street

Temporary Closure of Manchester Square and Manchester Street

Manawatū District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Manawatu District Council, for the purpose of permitting a private organiser to conduct the Truckers Big Day Out Fundraising event, will close the roads as listed below to ordinary vehicular traffic from 08.00am to 2.00pm on Saturday 27 September 2025.

Manchester Street – from Bowen Street to Kimbolton Road

Manchester Square - between the Feilding Hotel and ANZ bank

During the period of closure the provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic that would otherwise use the road via detour.

UPDATE - Temporary Closure of Haggerty Street

Manawatū District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, Haggerty Street will be closed from its intersection with London Street to the road end, between 9.00am and 3.00pm on Wednesday 6 August 2025, due to Powerline maintenance work. Should weather or conditions outside of the contractors control delay the works, the closure will be undertaken on the next suitable date.

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatū District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Hot Rod and Classic Car Club to conduct a charity event display of hot rods and classic cars, will close the following roads listed hereunder to ordinary vehicular traffic on Saturday 15 November 2025 from 8.00am until 2.00pm.

Manchester Street – from its intersection with Bowen Street to its intersection with Kimbolton Road

Manchester Square - from its intersection with Kimbolton Road at the Feilding hotel to its intersection with Kimbolton Road at YOU travel.

Temporary Road Closures - Targa Rally

PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, the Manawatū District Council will close the roads as listed below for the purpose of permitting Ultimate Rally Group to conduct the Targa Rally 2025 on Saturday 18 October 2025.

Roads to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic:

Stage SS24 and SS25: Pohangina - Takapari

Date of Closure: Saturday 18 October 2025

Time of Closure: 08.00am to 01.00pm

Pohangina Valley East Road, from its intersection with Awahou South Road, to its intersection with Oroua Valley Road.

* Note: To assist with the stage security, the closure is also to include 100 metres of each adjoining road, from where it intersects with the road being applied for.

Adjoining Roads: No. 3 Line (no exit). No.2 Line (no exit) No. 1 Line (no exit) Opawe Road (no exit) Churchill Road (no exit)Arbons Road (no exit), Takapari Road (no exit), Piripiri Road (no exit), Makoura Road, Norsewood Road (no exit) Umutoi North Road (including Pettigrew Road, no exit), Tunipo Road (no exit) and Cawood Road (no exit).

Stage SS26: Oroua Valley - Ruahine

Date of Closure: Saturday 18 October 2025

Time of Closure: 09.30am to 02.00pm

Main South Road - from 350 metres from its intersection with Table Flat Road/Nixs Road, to its intersection with Te Parapara Road.

Te Parapara Road - from its intersection with Main South Road to its intersection with Rangiwahia Road/Ruahine Road

Ruahine Road – from its intersection with Te Parapara Road/ Rangiwahia Road, to its intersection with Kawhatau Valley Road.

* Note: To assist with the stage security, the closure is also to include 100 metres of each adjoining road, from where it intersects with the road being applied for.

Adjoining Roads: Conspicuous Road (no exit), East Mangahuia (no exit) West Mangahuia Road (no exit) Renfrew Road (no exit), Karewarewa Road, Kelpie Road/Lagoon Road (no exit), Halls Road (no exit).

Update - Churchill Road Bridge

Manawatū District Council wishes to advise that construction is due to start to replace the Churchill Road Bridge. Access to Totara Reserve is available only via Pohangina Valley East Road.

No access is available from Pohangina Road.

It is expected that the road will remain closed until November 2025.
