Stock Underpasses

For sites that involve a busy road, or a large herd, we may require the installation of a Stock Underpass. The costs for this are the responsibility of the property owner. You may apply for funding assistance of between $2,000-$4,000. Reimbursement of this amount is paid after successful completion of the installation of the underpass, which includes a defects liability period of up to 24 months.

How to apply for a Stock Underpass

Enquiries regarding a Stock Underpass should be made to the Roading Team in the first instance. Please contact us on 06 323 0000 and we will arrange to meet you on site if necessary. We will supply you with the details of the Consent Conditions.

You will also need to apply for a building consent. Submit an online application through Simpli. You or your contractor will need to supply the design drawings and other documentation at this stage.

Once your building consent has been approved, your contractor should submit a Traffic Management Plan via Submitica. Council will organise for public notification of a road closure in a local newspaper, however the cost will be forwarded to your contractor.

When all of the above have been actioned, you can install your underpass.

How do I apply for funding assistance?

Once your underpass has been installed and the prerequisite defects liability has passed (24 months) you might be eligible for funding assistance. You will need to fill in a Funding Assistance Application Form (PDF file, 430.7 KB).
