PUBLIC NOTICE PURSUANT TO SECTION 80Y OF THE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ACT 1991 RELATING TO STATUS OF MANAWATŪ DISTRICT PLAN PROPOSED CHANGES
In fulfilment of its ‘Plan Stop’ obligations under Section 80Y of the Resource Management Act 1991, the Manawatū District Council hereby gives notice of the withdrawal of the following Proposed Change to the Manawatū District Plan.
- Proposed Plan Change B: Residential Zone. This plan change is being withdrawn in its entirety with effect from 15 January 2026.
The Manawatū District Council, having applied for, and being granted, an exemption from the Minister for the Environment under Section 80V to continue work on a proposed plan change also gives notice that preparation of the following plan change will recommence under the Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991 as from 15 January 2026:
- Proposed Plan Change E: Town Centre Zone and Mixed-Use Zone.

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatū District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Community Police to conduct a Community Street Party, will close McCorkindale Street, between North Street and 5 McCorkindale Street from 4.30pm until 7.15pm on Thursday 5 March 2026.
Temporary Closure of Pohangina Road - Makiekie Bridge Replacement
Manawatū District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, Pohangina Road will be closed to all through traffic from its intersection with Finnis Road to its intersection with Churchill Road , from 7.00am, 8 October 2025 while construction starts on the new bridge across Makiekie Creek (Coal Creek).
The new bridge is estimated to be open in February 2026.
Residents will continue to have access to their properties during the closure, all properties north of the Makiekie Bridge will need to use Pohangina Valley East Road and Churchill Road for access during the closure.
