Temporary Closure of No 1 Line and Rongotea Road Intersection
Palmerston North City Council will have the following road closure in place which may affect residents and commuters.
A temporary road closure will be in place at the intersection of No 1 Line and Rongotea Road from 6am to 6pm, from Monday 8 June to Saturday 13 June 2026, to install a Rural Intersection Activated Warning Signs.
The signs are a safety improvement to alert drivers on high speed roads to the upcoming intersection.
During the closure:
- Eastbound traffic on No 1 Line will detour via Reserve Road, Pioneer Highway and Amberley Avenue to reconnect with No 1 Line (Tremaine Avenue). Westbound traffic should follow the reverse route.
- Southbound traffic on Rongotea Road should detour via Kairanga Bunnythorpe Road and Gillespies Line to reach Tremaine Avenue (No 1 Line).
- Traffic travelling on Pioneer Highway or Shirriffs Road intending to access Rongotea Road should continue east along Pioneer Highway and use Amberley Avenue to reach No 1 Line (Tremaine Avenue).
