Proposed Temporary Road Closure - Sandon Block Road Silver Fern Rally
PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at its meeting on 2 September 2026 the Manawatu District Council intends to consider closing the roads as listed below for the purpose of permitting Ultimate Rally Group to conduct the New Zealand Silver Fern Rally 2026, on Thursday 3 December 2026 from 08.55am to 01.25pm. This closure is to allow for an amendment on the Peep-O-Day/Waipuru Stage.
Sandon Block Road - from its intersection with Waipuru Road/Mangamako Road until its change into Sandon Block Road Extension.
Sandon Block Road Extension - from its intersection with Sandon Block Road, until 200metres before its intersection with State Highway 54 (Cheltenham Hunterville Road)
* Note: To assist with the stage security, the closure is also to include 120 metres of each adjoining road, from where it intersects with the road being applied for.
Adjoining Roads: Mangatieka Road (no exit).
Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of their objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00 pm, Friday 7 August 2026, at the office of the Manawatū District Council, Private Bag 10001, Feilding, or email public@mdc.govt.nz. Any objections received by Manawatū District Council for this proposed road closure may be passed on to the Event Organiser. This may include contact details to allow the Event Organiser to make contact to discuss and attempt to resolve any concerns with the person/s submitting an objection.
