Elections & Voting

Every three years, communities across the district step up to choose who will represent them on Council and 2025 is an local election year.
From 9 September to 11 October 2025, you’ll have the chance to vote for the people who will help shape the future of our community. But before you cast your vote, it’s important to know who’s stepping up.
Get to know the candidates by reading their profiles online (linked). You’ll also receive a printed copy with your voting papers in the mail.
Attend a local ‘Meet the Candidates’ event to hear directly from those putting their hands up to lead.
Whether you’re a first-time voter or a long-time local, getting to know the candidates is a powerful step toward making your vote count by knowing who’s behind the name.
The Manawatū District Council's collateral including social media pages must not be used for electioneering purposes. Any posts - positive or negative - made by any individual specifically relating to their own - or someone else's - nomination, intention to run or election campaign, will be removed immediately.
