Cyclone Vaianu is currently tracking to impact the Manawatū District from Sunday through to Monday. The District is currently in a strong wind watch.

Manawatu District has a warning and a watch:
🔶Heavy Rain Warning – Orange
For the Ruahine Ranges from 3am to 9pm on Sunday
⚠️Strong Wind Watch – Yellow
From the District from 10am Sunday to 6am Monday
Prepare your household before dark tonight and ensure you have
👉Secured outdoor furniture and trampolines.
👉Cleared gutters and drains.
👉Brought pets inside and moved livestock in low lying areas to paddocks that are safe from floodwaters, landslides, isolated trees, and power lines.
👉Fully charged your phones and power banks

Cyclone Vaianu is currently tracking to impact the Manawatū District from Sunday through to Monday. The District is currently in a strong wind watch not warning.
Our Civil Defence teams are on call throughout the weekend and will continue to update our channels as we know more or if the situation changes.
We strongly encourage you to prepare you and your households in advance of Sunday. This includes:
- Securing outdoor furniture and trampolines.
- Clearing gutters and drains.
- Bringing pets inside and moving livestock in low lying areas to paddocks that are safe from floodwaters, landslides, isolated trees, and power lines.
- Charging phones and devices.
- Staying away from areas at risk of slips.
- Staying out of the water and away from beaches.
- Being prepared to move to higher ground if needed.
