1.Previous information provided “Our Utilities team is aware of the issues in the area and is actively working on the floodingconcern”. Question – What are the issues and how are the council actively working on them?
Answer: Stormwater flooding and answer below.
2.Previous information provided “As a breakdown, our utilities team are currently conducting stormwater modelling to alleviate potential flooding”. Question – what does this modelling look like and when will a solution be presented and actioned?
Answer: We have undertaken stormwater modelling to understand where the problems start and solutions for these problem areas. We are still working through the finer points and will share these once we have them.
3. Previous information provided “Our retic team have programmed to clean out the drainage scheme waterway which will alleviate the flooding at Whylie Road "Question - when will this happen?
Answer: The drain in question gets sprayed bi-annually and then alternate years is mechanically cleaned. This drain was sprayed in March 2026 and then mechanically cleaned by a council contractor approximately one week after the flooding alert. This entailed cleaning of approximately 500 meters of drain.
4.Previous information provided “All culverts are inspected twice a year and inlet and outlet clearing conducted as required. “

5. Previous information provided “Sand in Himatangi is cleared out of the kerb and channel on a regular basis.” Question - what is the schedule of works?
Answer: The sand is cleared twice a week to clear sand from kerb and channel and roadside sumps.
