There are different ways to get involved with Manawatū District Council, meet others, build skills and help shape your community.

Youth Council

Youth Council is for people generally aged 16 to 24 who want to bring youth perspectives to Council and speak up about issues that matter across Manawatū.

Members usually meet once a month and may also take part in workshops, events and other opportunities during the year.
Young Leaders

Young Leaders is for young people generally aged 13 to 16 who want to build confidence, try new things and get more involved in their community.

Members usually meet once a month and may also take part in leadership activities, events and community projects.

What the year usually looks like

For both Youth Council and Young Leaders, the year will generally include:

You can apply for Youth Council, Young Leaders, or both.

You do not need previous leadership experience, and if you are not sure which option suits you best, that is okay.
