Slide into fun at Victoria Park

Over the next month, work will be underway to build and install a playground complete with a slide, swings, springer, and seesaw at Victoria Park.

Victoria Park is a well-loved park in the north-west corner of Feilding.  With 6.57 hectares of open area the park boasts a softball diamond, rugby fields in winter, football in summer, hosts Freedom Campers and even has a designated fitness zone giving locals the opportunity to complete a circuit based workout focused on balance and strength free of charge.

The park is well used by both senior and junior rugby on weeknights and weekends, by schools for cross country competitions, and is a popular dog walking park as the well maintained walking path circumferences the park.  Victoria Park has changing rooms that can be used on a booking basis and full service toilets open for public use.

It’s a perfect place to let imaginations soar and explore, creating ones own games and fun.  Until now that independent play was required as unlike so many other parks, Victoria Park does not have a traditional playground.

That is all set to change.

Over the next month, work will be underway to build and install a playground complete with a slide, swings, springer, and seesaw.  The playground will be nestled in the trees neighbouring the Feilding Squash Club so that it provides shade in the summer.

The addition of the playground is  expected to be well used by families who live close by or who are already at the park for an organised sport like rugby or squash tournaments. The playground is anticipated to open in May.

Due to the location of the playground, the other features of the park will be fully accessible during the construction and programming will continue as normal.
