Better Together: Ideas in Action

Participants and funders valued the insights and connections created at the inaugural Better Together – Manawatū Funding Forum 2025, which turned Te Āhuru Mōwai, Feilding, into a hub of collaboration on Wednesday 20 August.

Designed to bridge the gap between funders and the community, the Forum brought together 14 regional funding organisations under one roof. Residents, community groups, and local organisations were able to explore a wide range of funding opportunities, connect directly with decision-makers, and gain clarity on how to secure support for projects that will benefit the district.

The event encouraged meaningful one-on-one conversations, creating space for tailored advice and stronger connections.

Alongside the stalls, the Forum hosted three free seminars titled Writing Winning Applications, Understanding the Funding Landscape, and Building Long-Term Grant Success. These gave attendees practical tools to strengthen projects and improve outcomes.

Helen King, MDC’s Community Services Co-ordinator, said “The strength of the Forum was in the quality of the conversations. Every discussion had the potential to create positive change for our district.”

Delivered by Manawatū District Council, in partnership with the Eastern and Central Community Trust and the Department of Internal Affairs / Te Tari Taiwhenua. The Forum turned connections into opportunities and real ideas in action to help to support local projects well into the future.
