Volunteers Make NZ Clean Up Week a Success

Local families, community groups and businesses have once again shown their commitment to keeping our district clean and beautiful, wrapping up another successful NZ Clean Up Week.

For the second year in a row, the team at Vestas rolled up their sleeves to make a difference, collecting an impressive 280 kilograms of rubbish and fly tipping from various locations across Feilding. The Vestas team generously donate a full day of employment to this initiative as their way of giving back. After their first clean up last year, they were eager to get stuck in again and have already indicated that they will “talk next year” to continue their efforts in 2026.

Another standout contributor was the Girls’ Brigade, who have been consistent supporters of NZ Clean Up Week year after year. This year, their team collected almost 40 kilograms of rubbish throughout the Feilding CBD, helping to restore pride to the heart of our town.

While it is disappointing that so much rubbish is left behind, the response from local groups and organisations shows the strength of our community. Together, these efforts turn a challenge into an opportunity to build pride, strengthen connections, and create a cleaner future for the District.  This year’s Clean Up Week is a reminder that even small actions, when taken together, can make a big difference.
