A Fresh Chapter for Kimbolton's Playground
The Kimbolton community received an exciting Christmas gift last year, seeing their community playground get a well-deserved upgrade. The playground opened to the public in December 2025, just in time for the summer holidays, offering a modern, clean, safe and engaging space for the community to enjoy for decades to come.
Sitting on the Kimbolton Domain, by the netball and tennis courts, the playground is a hot spot that has been well loved and well used by the community since its installation in the 1990s. After decades of play, it was due for renewal.
Council coordinated the planned upgrade in partnership with local contractors, who removed the dated equipment including the seesaw, modular swing and slide. Kimbolton Community Committee played a key role in selecting the new playground equipment, such as the new swing set, spinner seat, seesaw and modular slide with a climbing wall. The new swing set includes a 360-degree swing and different sizes to suit adults through to toddlers. The new playground is bright, colourful, clean and ready for a long life of being loved by the Kimbolton community.
Keeping facilities like playgrounds safe, up to standard, and fit for purpose is a top priority for Manawatū District Council. It’s been great to see the Kimbolton community enjoying their new playground, aligning with Council’s strategic priority of our District being a place to belong and grow.
Be sure to go and check out Kimbolton’s new playground and make the most of the great facilities the Manawatū District has to offer.
