A New Way to Explore Council Projects

There are plenty of Council projects happening across the Manawatū District, and a new online tool is making it easier for residents to see where Council’s major projects are taking shape.

Launched in August, Manawatū District Council’s new Key Projects Map brings many of these large scale projects together on one easy to use, interactive map.  Residents can explore what’s happening now, what’s planned and what projects are shaping their communities.

Using different coloured dots and icons, the Key Projects Map identifies recent, current and planned projects, from roads, water and other essential infrastructure through to parks, community facilities and local improvements. By simply clicking on the dots and icons, the map filters Council’s major projects including expected start and completion dates and key project information making it easier to follow projects from beginning to end.

Much of the information featured on the map is drawn from Manawatū District Council’s 2024/25 Annual Report. The Annual Report is a legislative document that outlines what Council has delivered during the financial year against its Annual Plan and Long-term Plan, as well as how funding is collected and spent across services, programmes, capital projects and community outcomes. At nearly 250 pages, the Annual Report contains a lot of useful information about Council’s mahi, but not everyone has the time to work through it in detail. The Key Projects Map helps bring some of that information to life in a more visual, accessible and easy to understand way.

The Key Projects Map will be reviewed and updated annually alongside Council’s most recent Annual Report, helping residents stay connected with the work happening around them. Whether you’re looking to buy a home in the District, have lived here for years or are simply curious about what Council is working on, jump onto the map and explore the projects helping shape the future of the Manawatū District.
