Cheltenham Community Committee Accepting New Members
Cheltenham, it’s time to get involved in your community. Attend your Community Committee’s triennial meeting next Tuesday (31 March) and help make things happen for your village.
Entering the new triennium, the Cheltenham community are seeking new appointments for their Community Committee. Community Committees play a vital role as the link between the village and Council, ensuring the communities wants, needs and goals are heard at the Council table. Pauline Scott, Treasurer for Cheltenham's Community Committee, has been a part of the committee since bringing it back from recess over 10 years ago. As the owner of the Cheltenham Hotel for over 20 years, Pauline is a passionate, involved local.
Pauline is proud to shoutout the great work the committee has done over the last decade, seeing the Cheltenham community benefit from a variety of community-based projects. This includes a new playground with new public toilets installed nearby, a community sharing shelf, and a variety of community fruit trees planted, including peaches, apricots, apples and feijoas. Guided by their community plan, future projects will support growth and development, including building an outdoor seating shelter to display heritage photos of the village and installing new “Welcome to Cheltenham” signs. It’s safe to say the committee have been busy and will continue to be into the future. But Pauline was quick to emphasise that making these things happen relies on community input, support and participation.
So... Calling all Cheltenham locals! Now is the time to step up, support your community and join the Community Committee. Whether you choose to join as a member, or nominate yourself as Treasurer, Secretary or Chairperson, the Community Committee is grateful for community support and participation.
Be sure to attend Cheltenham Community Committee’s triennial meeting next Tuesday and help make things happen for your community.
