Feilding Civic Centre to transition to Council management
After more than 20 years of dedicated service, the Feilding Civic Centre Trust has made the decision to transition operation of the venue to Council and withdraw from its lease of the community facility.
Feilding Civic Centre Trust Chair Evan Tull says the trust is proud of what it has achieved and feels the time is right for a new approach, supported by Council’s experience and resources.
“The Trust has been proud to manage the Civic Centre since 2004, and it’s been a privilege to see it host so many community events over the years. Running a public facility has changed a lot in that time with increasing demands of operating the centre from a volunteer board, and we believe Council is well placed to take it into its next chapter. We want to thank the trustees who have assisted over the years, the staff who have all made an enormous contribution and of course the volunteers, who have been a huge part of our community, we’re excited for the Civic Centre’s next steps."
Manawatū District Council acknowledges the Trust's decision and is committed to continuing the operation of the Civic Centre, with community events and activities expected to carry on as usual throughout the transition.
"The Civic Centre is an important venue for our district, and we're committed to ensuring it continues to be available for community events and activities," says Mayor Michael Ford.
"We also sincerely thank the Trust, its board members, staff and volunteers for more than two decades of dedication to the facility and our community."
Council and the Trust will work closely together on a smooth handover, so it’s business as usual for the community who uses the facility.
