Hot Off the Council Table and Straight onto MDC’s Website

Now more than ever, it’s important to stay informed about local government, so our communities can understand the decisions shaping the Manawatū District and take part in its future. To make this easier, recordings of Manawatū District Council’s fortnightly meetings and Council’s decisions are uploaded to MDC’s website following each meeting, providing an accessible way for communities to stay informed.

Attended by the Mayor, Elected Members, Council’s Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and Council officers, the fortnightly public Council meetings cover a wide range of topics and oversees decision making. This includes receiving reports from community groups, Council officers, grant and funding recipients, and committees, as well as considering recommendations and making decisions on Council matters. Prior to the meeting, the agenda is prepared and published on MDC’s website by Council’s Governance team. Following the meeting, the recording is uploaded online within the statutory timeframe of 48 hours. Together, the agendas, recordings and published decisions provide a reliable and accessible source of truth for Council meetings, making it easier for people to stay informed and connected with local democracy.

“Having recorded Council meetings available on Council’s website makes these resources accessible to anyone, anytime, anywhere,” says Ash Garstang, MDC’s Governance and Assurance Manager.

“It’s a great way to stay informed about Council’s projects, and to hear directly from community groups and organisations that present to Council.”

“Our website shows a library of recorded Council meetings dating back to 2021, providing an insightful record of past decisions and discussions. Go check it out!”
