Rangatahi, Your Seat at the Council Table Starts Here

Manawatū District Council (MDC) is excited to launch the recruitment for the refreshed Manawatū Youth Council, and the new Manawatū Young Leaders group.

• Manawatū Youth Council is aimed at 16–24 year olds and provides a formal platform for youth voice and advocacy. Members will have opportunities to work alongside Council officers and Elected Members, raise issues that matter to rangatahi, and take part in Council discussions and processes.
• Manawatū Young Leaders is aimed at 13–16 year olds and offers a development focused programme designed to build confidence, teamwork and leadership skills through activities, events and involvement in the community.

Whether you’re passionate about sport, the arts, the environment, history, your community, or simply have ideas you want to see brought to life, bring your passions, thoughts and perspectives to the table. It’s an opportunity to help shape projects and conversations that will influence the future of the Manawatū District, and your future living here.

There are plenty of ways to put your best foot forward when applying for Youth Council, Young Leaders, or both groups. Applicants can choose to apply in writing, through an audio or video recording, or by meeting with Council officers in person, whichever format brings out the best in you!

The age ranges for each group are only indicative, so please apply for either group, or both, depending on which opportunity feels like the best fit for you.
