Resident Satisfaction Survey Benchmarking Report Now Available
The 2025/2026 Resident Satisfaction Survey benchmarking report highlights the positive results and strong performance across several key measures from Manawatū District Council (MDC) compared to other 22 councils nationwide.
The Resident Satisfaction Survey is conducted by an independent survey provider on behalf of MDC. Each quarter, a random selection of approximately 113–119 residents are invited to complete the 74-question survey.
The 2025/26 results showed an increase in overall satisfaction, rising six percentage points from 69% in 2025 to 75% in 2026. Satisfaction also increased across 10 of the 11 main measures.
Now available on MDC's website, the annual benchmarking report compares results from 23 councils across New Zealand, providing valuable insight into MDC's performance and how residents' perceptions compare nationally.
In 2025/26, MDC performed above the benchmark across several key areas including:
- Overall satisfaction: MDC 75% | Benchmark 57%
- Core service deliverables: MDC 88% | Benchmark 71%
