Rubbish & Recycling
The Manawatū District Council is dedicated to reducing waste and keeping our community clean. With our Waste Management Minimisation Plan to guide us, we aspire to reach zero waste through education, development and implementation of recycling, reuse and recovery methods.
As a Council we run a weekly kerbside rubbish collection throughout the District, and an alternating fortnightly recycling collection service in Feilding. Council blue rubbish bags are for sale at supermarkets and stores located throughout the Manawatū District, as well as at the Manawatū District Council administration building and Manawatū Community Hub Libraries in Feilding.
Place your rubbish and recycling at the kerb by 7:30am on your collection day to ensure they are collected.
For more information, have a read of our handy Rubbish & Recycling Guide (PDF file, 891.1 KB) . The tips in this guide will help you reduce the amount of waste you send to landfill. It will help with what you can recycle and when, and the services we provide for effective waste management in the community. Reducing your waste and recycling is much easier than you might have thought!
Another useful resource is this Household Recycling Guide put together by the Manawatū Community Trust, with support from our Waste Not Want Not Fund. It covers recycling options for items from coffee pods to scrap metal.
