What is a property file?
A property file is a collection of documents that Manawatū District Council holds about a property.
It can include building records, consent documents, plans, and correspondence related to that property.
More complete information about a property can be obtained in a Land Information Memorandum (LIM). The Manawatū District Council recommends a LIM is obtained when purchasing property.

How to request a property file
Complete the online Property File request form.
Enter the correct property address and confirm the property.
Submit the form to Council.
You will receive an email with payment instructions.
Important: Your request will not be processed until payment is received.
Once payment is receipted, your request is processed. This process takes about 3 business days.
You will receive your property file as a PDF via email.

Timeframes
- We aim to send your file within three business days of receiving payment.
- Processing time begins once payment is received.
- Standard processing time will be provided on the fees page or confirmation email.
