District Plan

The District Plan has been operative since 1 December 2002. District Plans, which are a legal requirement under the Resource Management Act, place controls on land use and subdivisions. They specify particular environmental outcomes that Council should aim for.

A district plan contains Objectives, Policies, Rules, and planning maps to show how land is zoned differently across the Manawatū District.

Note on the National Planning Standards new structure and format

This webpage temporarily shows two versions of the District Plan. 'Operative District Plan - National Planning Standards' links to a webpage which has the new format and structure of the District Plan. This should be considered as the official copy of the District Plan. 'District Plan - Original Documents' should be considered superseded by the new one and is available only temporarily for the next month.

It is important to note that the new version of the District Plan contains all the same content, but the layout is different.
