Feilding Water Supply Resilience

Council is undertaking a programme of works to future proof water supply of Feilding. This consists of a number of project stages that are currently underway and scheduled for completion in 2029, including:

  • Construction of a new water treatment plant at Roots Street West
  • Campbell Road water treatment plant upgrades
  • Trunk main upgrades and construction of new mains
  • New Precinct 5 reservoir and pump station.

This project aims to enhance resilience of the Feilding potable water network, ensuring its reliability during heavy rainfall and other extreme weather events.

An objective of this project is to reduce the reliance on the Ōroua River abstraction for Feilding potable water supply to underpin Council’s commitment to the Ōroua Declaration and respond to the National Policy Statement on Freshwater Management.
